Telehealth Sessions This is always an option when we are unable to meet in person.
Mindfulness Walks in nature, together. After an initial intake has been completed, I can meet you at the Denver Botanic Gardens. My annual membership would cover your expense as a guest. We wouldn't be discussing personal issues in a public space, but we would be walking together. Here we would be practicing mindfulness techniques, because present moment awareness is one of the key themes in cultivating more joy and happiness in our lives. See you there! I'll be wearing my sneakers.
Traditional In-office Sessions Available.
Cultivating Joy & Happiness Workshop. A two-hour presentation with activities available to group gatherings and organizations. This workshop explores the feel-good neurobiology and win-win nature of focusing on 11 key life-themes that cultivate joy and happiness. It answers the question: How do I bring more joy into my life and the lives of people around me? It also discusses myths around happiness and the traps that send us in the opposite direction.

Jacey J. Yunker is a trauma-trained, EMDR Certified, (Polyvagal Theory-Informed and IFS-Informed) Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who began her social work career in 1994. She began working as a licensed psychotherapist in 2001. The desire to become more helpful to her clients motivated her to become trained in Dr. Francine Shapiro's Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in 2006, through an EMDRIA-approved training. Jacey has since then been using EMDR as a favored treatment approach. In July of 2023, Jacey became certified in EMDR. Click on the file below to learn about EMDR.
In 2011, Jacey completed a certificate in Military and Veteran Behavioral Health through Widener University's Post-Graduate Center of the Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology program. She became an Advanced Certified Trauma Practitioner (ACTP) through The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children (TLC) in 2017. In the spring of 2019, she created and lead a two-hour workshop, Cultivating Happiness & Joy, for The Georgia Society for Clinical Social Workers. Jacey's ongoing passion surrounding client care has involved extensive, international literature review of life themes connected to happiness and joy. Her ability to work on a continuum of extremes that include sorrow and suffering all the way to joy and happiness is part of what makes her unique.
Her approach to healing is holistic, integrative, and harmonizing, with emphasis on the following: parts work, positive psychology, mindfulness, EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), insight-oriented therapy, existentialism, and the sensory-based interventions of art and play. Nutritional influence and physical activity is encouraged and explored in collaboration with those licensed providers.Believing in mind-body-spirit connectedness, Jacey completed coursework in 2020, to become a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional(CIMHP) through a course developed from the life's work of Dr. Leslie Korn. Jacey uses her knowledge about complementary and alternative forms of treatment from various cultures to educate, refer, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals as part of a care team.
Jacey has expressed deep appreciation for her colleagues and her clients. She is grateful for extraordinary work of her colleagues and mentors who have shared their knowledge with her in-person, through coursework, and through self-study. And Jacey has expressed much respect and compassion for her clients. Her approach has been described as warm, attentive, and real. She finds her client's strengths and empowers them to build on these. Jacey encourages mutual feedback, believing this keeps the therapeutic relationship honest and helpful. Jacey most enjoys watching her clients grow, frequently feeling honored to be part of this process. And she loves learning from the wisdom of both her colleagues and her clients. Jacey graduated from Wayne State University in the heart of Detroit, Michigan, with a Masters of Social Work. She has extensive experience collaborating with all ages and diverse populations. Some of her work experience settings have included: residential treatment, schools, in-home therapy, outpatient clinic care, and now private practice.
